Community Service is integral to programs at Kokrobitey Institute, allowing students to participate in the extended community of the local area and work closely with their Ghanaian peers. It is an experience that enables students to discover first hand Ghanaian culture, making their own contribution to the host community. Since the foundation of the Institute, students have successfully worked on projects including village literacy projects, local schools sports programs and ad hoc projects such as the re-painting of Kokrobitey Junior Secondary School, the Kokrobitey Village plastic recycling scheme and working in cooperation with international NGO’s such as FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) on local projects. Today, students resident at Kokrobitey can participate in ongoing literacy and sports programs or can design and manage new initiatives.
