The Kokrobitey Institute welcomes passionate and forward thinking individuals to join our team in Ghana. Our internship program has projects that fit a wide range of interests in education, development, sustainability, art and design. We strive to be innovative in our approach of these development topics by facilitating creative forums for discourse within our PROJECTS, PROGRAMS & PRODUCTS.

Interns will gain unique professional experience and exposure to challenges within the non-profit sector. All interns will be expected to assist the team with administrative task and should have good organizational and communication skills. The Kokrobitey Institute needs interns that quickly adapt to new environments, are eager to learn, & can collaborate innovative ideas with our team.

FEES

All interns pay their travel & medical fees associated with getting to & from Ghana.

2-3 MONTH LONG INTERNSHIPS- $1,000 FEE covers room & board, 3 meals a day, some extracurriculars and travel associated w KI projects. 

1 YEAR INTERNS - KI provides room & board, 3 meals a day, some extracurriculars and travel associated with KI projects. 1 yr committed interns are welcome to apply for monthly financial aid (stipend).

INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

RESEARCH

The Kokrobitey Institute needs a research oriented intern that can create an analytic study detailing the progress of our educational programs and materials. We are looking for an individual that has excellent program management skills to compile, organize, and synthesize data into a comprehensive study and series of brochures.

Qualifications

-Professional fluency in English

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel important

-Excellent writing and organizational skills to write reports and manage data sets

-Must multi-task and prioritize projects with little supervision

-Close attention to detail

-International experience in a developing country a plus

 

EDUCATION

The Kokrobitey Institute is looking for an intern interested in education to work with our literacy projects.  The intern will work closely with our dynamic team to help design, create and implement learning materials into local schools. This intern should have classroom experience, enjoy experimentation, and be willing to work in a team.  Our interns will travel to rural areas with the team to assess the challenges and work in classrooms. This intern will also work closely alongside the research intern to help create printed materials:  brochures and reports of on going projects.

Qualifications

-Professional fluency in English

-Previous experience working in a classroom preferred

-Ability to collaborate with our team to design new educational materials

-Must multi-task and prioritize projects with little supervision

-Excellent communication skills to express ideas clearly and concisely

-International experience in a developing country a plus 

 

GRAPHIC DESIGN

The Kokrobitey Institute is searching for a graphic design intern to add to its team. This intern will be responsible for designing and constructing literature, brochures, and pamphlets to expand our marketing capability. The graphic design intern must be creative, work well in a team, and be proficient with Photoshop.

PRODUCT DESIGN

The Kokrobitey Institute prides itself in its ethical & contemporary  Resourceful Design approach. We are looking for an individual  that can approach design creatively with an interdisciplinary approach to work alongside the design and fabrication team in our Glass, Wood, Metal, & Sewing Studios. The product design intern must be ‘hands on’, practical, willing to experiment with good design instincts, you must also have the ability to community clearly through drawings and writing proposals for design & interiors.  You will gain experience in Studio & Project Management.

-Must be hands-on with experience making crafts and also interested in exploring new design mediums

-CAD drawing skills and Project Proposal experience a plus

AGRICULTURE

The Kokrobitey Institute has partners leading Ghana's future in organic agriculture and believes that our food system  and chronicling traditional natural skills is of the utmost importance for maintaining the world's culture and health. The Agriculture intern would work on our current farm plot and help to expand to other lands owned by the Kokrobitey Institute.  The Agriculture Intern can also partner on design, media, and community organizing projects that push forward the comprehension of Food Systems and Heath.  The intern should be able to work independently and as a team, think creatively, and love nature.

ADMINISTRATIVE

The Kokrobitey Institute is interested in adding an administrative intern to its team. In order to ensure the success of our educational and developmental projects, we need someone to organize and coordinate events, create a database to organize our past projects, and assist the team. This intern should have excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills to facilitate office tasks.
